INTRODUCTION Bodily expressions convey important affective information that can be captured and analyzed by automatic systems. We also want to compare the performances of our automatic recognition system and the ones achieved by humans. The whole framework aims at helping children with autism to understand and express emotions. Our goal is to focus on emotion expression through body gestures, making the players aware of the amount of affective information their bodies convey. In this work we focus on the big six emotions : Happiness, Sadness,Įmotional Charades Stefano Piana Alessandra Staglianò Francesca Odone Antonio Camurri ABSTRACT This is a short description of the Emotional Charades serious game demo. The framework for automatic emotion recognition from body gestures, presented in our previous papers, we exploit in this demo is based on such ideas, since the movement features we use to represent body gestures are strongly inspired by these dimensions. Studies from experimental psychology (de Meijer, Wallbott, Boone & Cunningham ) and from humanistic theories (Laban effort ) have confirmed the important role of body gestures in emotion expression, identifying a set of emotion related dimensions that characterize the different emotions.
